A longnose gar provided the biggest dose of excitement this trip. Catching it was probably a fluke. It bit on a 3/8oz rooster tail right where the East Fork connects with the main branch of the Little Miami just south of Milford (about 13 miles upriver from the Ohio). The
state record for these dudes is 25lbs and 49 inches long. Can't imagine hooking one that size while canoeing. It was hard enough getting this little one in the boat!
